Great meal tonight. Great service as well. Chef created something for my daughter who is vegan and allergic to nuts. She loved it! -Yelp
This place is a gem! Food is excellent! The service was great, very personable and helpful service. Ask for Austin, he is excellent! The manager, Matt is extremely helpful and friendly. I highly recommend Charcoal Bistro. -OpenTable
Had a lovely brunch experience at Charcoal Bistro yesterday - bottomless mimosas for the whole crew! Everyone got something different off the menu, and all of the food was outstanding! -OpenTable
What a great night! I’m so glad that Open Table introduced me to Charcoal Bistro (I picked it based on reviews) The food was good and very special! Try The Brussel Sprouts! I did the prie fixe and the value was great! -OpenTable
My wife and I went to celebrate Denver Vegan Restaurant Week. It was a price fixe, so my wife and I had the same thing: Hot spinach & artichoke dip, mixed veggies with ravioli and squash, chocolate dessert. I would never have picked this combo, but all of it was excellent. They do monthly vegan dinners as well, I'm sure we will be back! -Yelp
Had a great experience here! I was able to make a reservation of 13 and we fit very well! It was beautiful and the food meet all of our expectations! -OpenTable
The food was lovely and the service exceptional. This is a beautiful space and we had a wonderful dinner. -OpenTable
Food was delicious! Lots of variety on menu for different palates and tastes. Loved that there are (delicious) vegan options. The atmosphere is relaxed - refreshing that you can get great, interesting food in a casual atmosphere that doesn't feel fussy. Will definitely be back!
Came here on a Saturday. Looking forward to coming back with my relatives. Makes me feel like I am back in Sacramento. -Google
One of my favorite places in Denver. The chef is from Sweden and his menu is a mix of traditional Swedish and American with a very modern twist and perfect execution My cod dish was exceptional. Highest recommendation. -Google
Went for their monthly Vegan series dinner. So yummy. Anyone would have liked this meal, vegans or not. Four courses, $39/pp. The staff was great, the ambiant is cozy and rustic modern. Will definitely come here again for the Vegan series. -Google
We went to Charcoal Bistro for their vegan night. We were not let down. The courses were innovative, beautifully plated and delicious. We intend to attend regularly. Nice to have a place to find "upscale" vegan food. -OpenTable
We were sat immediately. Wait staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was amazing; we literally scrapped the bottom of our plates. Delicious. Thank you! -OpenTable
Best restaurant in Denver! The food and service are outstanding, we have never been disappointed! The best steak I have ever had at a restaurant anywhere and very reasonably priced compared to Morton’s, Elway’s, Capital Grill, Ruth’s or Chop House. If you want to experience the best Denver has to offer in an out the way location, Charcoal Bistro is the place! -TripAdvisor
Terrific menu, with creative dishes, served by super knowledgeable folk. Good seating choices (dining room, bar or outdoor terrace. Love this place. Austin is a terrific bar tender, server, foodie.... -OpenTable
My wife and I ate at Charcoal with another couple. Everyone enjoyed everything. We all did the three course deal so we tried quite a bit of the menu and we all shared bites. The food was fresh, unique, healthy, and affordable. We will go back. -Yelp
Maybe the best food we've had in Colorado. The gnocchi is fantastic.
I really appreciate the staff here. Matt is always a wonderful host and ensures that we have a lovely experience each time we return. We also greatly appreciate the vegan dinner nights, and vegan options that are available at other times. While the portions are small, each dish is very artfully crafted and delicious. I'm very impressed with the quality of Chef Patrik's plant-based creations. The atmosphere is also perfect for a date night or even a professional dinner. We can't wait for the March vegan dinner coming up!
Pleasantly surprised!! We got a short notice reservation during Denver Restaurant week at Charcoal Bistro (which I find--as a Marketing person- may be a misleading name????) anyhoo..... we had 2 different appetizers (the bacon wrapped dates ARE TO DIE ..seriously), 3 different entrees (gnocchi bolognese, crusted cod & bacon wrapped pork) - all deliciously prepared! and 2 different desserts ( pecan bread pudding & Swedish pancakes) -- both very tasty and a little unique in their preparations, but in good ways (for example the use of lingonberries....we'd never had them but they were tart & delicious with the crepe pancakes). The portions were not huge, but every dish was full of flavor, the wine selection was decent and the service was very good. The atmosphere was clean/modern/eclectic....and the Gaylord neighborhood....AAAAdorable!! We will def go back when the weather is a little warmer to enjoy the long street of twinkling lights and unique restaurants with patio dining and cute boutiques. Very charming and walkable area.
Vegan Night was a great experience! I know this is a once a month menu but for Valentine's Day they did an awesome 5 course menu. Truly a vegan delight but the Smoked Eggplant Caviar and the Shitake Mushroom Toast were our favorites. Service was awesome. Will definitely see them again for their next Vegan Extravaganza!!
This. Place. Is. Amazing! The wine selection is great! We tried things all across the board here. Fried brie, awesome! Bacon dates, awesome! Brussels sprouts, awesome! Pork schnitzel, awesome! Burger, awesome! Fish and shellfish soup, awesome! Almond crusted cod, awesome! Honestly, there's nothing that's not amazing! Finish it with an apple crumble. -Google
Wonderful meal. We live a few blocks from this restaurant but tonight was the first time we had eaten here. The service was quick, the food was delicious! We will recommend this to our friends! -Trip Advisor
This was our first time at Charcoal Bistro. We went there for the special Saint Lucia Buffet. The food was excellent and the hospitality was very caring and personable. The Executive Chef, Patrik Landberg, took the time to visit with the guests, and our waitress, Carlin, became our very personal and caring waitress. The GM was equally personal and caring. If you appreciate from-scratch made food with the best ingredients, and personalized hospitality, this restaurant is for you. -OpenTable
This is the second time I've hosted a business lunch at Charcoal and it won't be my last. It's a gentle space and easy to find menu options for all kinds of eaters. It's becoming one of my go-to spots for a working lunch! -OpenTable
This restaurant has great food and excellent service. I just went there with a bunch of friends to indulge in their Swedish Christmas buffet. The food was top notch and the service absolutely great!! -Yelp
Great little place. Definitely ask for drink suggestions...they are wizards at crafting special requests. Food and people are great. Must stop for sure. -Google
Charcoal Bistro was an utterly delightful venue for our Thanksgiving dinner. If we lived in Denver, we would visit on a regular basis. Great cocktails, fantastic wines and delicious food. Gracious service, too. -OpenTable
This was a wonderful meal. We were wandering past restaurants in the neighborhood in the late afternoon and this one caught our eye. We were also grateful that they opened at 4pm for dinner because most places in the area don't open for dinner until 5pm. Highly recommend the pumpkin ravioli, truffle fries, pork schnitzel, and 5 meat bolognaise. We left all of our plates empty and the entree portions were perfect. The meal finished nicely with an espresso dessert, which was delicate and light - we really appreciated the small dessert portion after such a hearty meal. All around it was a lovely experience and we'll be back! -Google
Food and service here is always consistently fantastic! The bacon-wrapped dates are interesting and so delicious. Austin is great at making you feel welcome and he does a phenomenal job, wearing many hats. We especially love the ambiance of the tiny bar. -OpenTable
The dining never disappoints. The food is always fresh, beautifully served and delicious. The service is prompt, courteous and friendly, and you can have a real conversation. -OpenTable
Second trip to Charcoal Bistro and enjoyed it as much as the first. The menu changes seasonally or with the chefs touch, so I think there will always be something good to enjoy. Service was great. We do enjoy the atmosphere. It is one of our local favorites.
Believe the hype, this place is a 5-star establishment. Service, decor, experience, food and drink selection is all very quality. The bacon wrapped dates and deep fried Brie were out of this world. The cocktails were creative and the bread pudding was so delicious (and I usually don’t like bread pudding). -Google
Charcoal always provides tasty, original food in a comfortable atmosphere. The service is attentive but never obtrusive. You'll leave happy! -OpenTable
LOVE IT! Love the menu - delicious and also not ridiculously expensive. We tried it when it first opened, and the food was quite good but it seemed pricey. New menu, however, seems to have addressed that. Small plates $9-12+, entrees in the $15-25+ range. Everything our group of four ordered was fantastic - menu is nicely varied and had something for everyone. I had the fried brie as an appetizer and then the "small plate" Brussels sprouts as an entree. I plan to go back and order the exact same thing again!! One person in our party had the ravioli and we all kept stealing some off his plate. Server was attentive and helpful. Bartender makes a great martini. Definitely our new favorite spot on Gaylord Street. -Yelp
My family and I were lucky to find this hidden gem. We had one of the best dining experiences in Denver. The food, especially the lamb shank special, was phenomenal. Our server was amazing and gave us the best service we could ask for. And chef Patrick was gracious enough to stop by our table after our meal. We'll be back soon. -OpenTable
Flew in from the east coast and went right to Charcoal Bistro for brunch. Still the best. Liked it so much we went back for dinner! -Yelp
We live in the neighborhood and have been here several times. Just had an amazing brunch. Brisket and theomelet...so delicious, perfect portions with delicate flavors. And the ambience is very nice and relaxing. Great service too. -Yelp
Holy cow! This place is amazing. The food was delicious, and they have a great wine selection too. Great place to celebrate an occasion or just relax with friends. Highly recommended
My new FAVORITE PLACE! From the time you walk through the doors you have a sense this is gonna be good. The pictures of the interior online are good but it's even better when you are there. We went early around 4:30-5:00pm on a Wednesday. I was drawn here by the menu listed here on Yelp! I'm Swedish & they have Swedish meatballs in the menu! These are venison meatballs on a bed of mashed purée of potatoes, mushroom gravy & lingonberrys. I was transported back to my childhood & my grandmas traditional cooking. I almost cried. I called over the host & asked ok who's the swede??? He smiled & replied our executive chef!!! Wednesday just happens to be happy hour DAY!! So we started with bacon wrapped dates on a bed of whipped goat cheese topped with a soft powder of crushed pistachio & a Concord grape reduction. In full disclosure I really dislike dates! These were amazing. I'd order it again. 2nd starter was of course the venison Swedish meatballs we ordered twice. 3rd starter was the Poke salad. The flavors melded beautifully with the tuna & the chips were a welcome utensil! Main course we opted to split chicken pesto gnocchi! Even though we were so full we still ordered dessert. So glad I did that apple tart was thin delicious crispy refresher from the creamy wonderful gnocchi. All in all this was one of the best foodie experiences in Denver to date. You should make an effort to go. Restaurant Bar & patio seating. Dog friendly on patio with tight leash. Don't know much about busy times or reservations but based on reviews I'd call ahead! Enjoy. -Yelp
Recently went here for an event wrap-up meeting with a large group. We came in near the end of brunch and they let us continue our meeting until we were through without trying to rush us out, even though they were closing down for the afternoon. We really appreciated that when we realized that the time got away from us! -OpenTable
The place itself has a hipster/Pinterest crafts vibe and the menu had a lot of interesting and gourmet options to choose from. Would definitely consider it for a nice brunch or group meeting in the future! -Yelp
I brought my mom for her 50th surprise birthday party and it was an amazing time. The service was great. The food was delicious and the overall day was perfect. Thank you so much
We came here on a Saturday night and enjoyed the warm weather on the patio. Each of us had a whiskey cocktail, which were both incredible. We shared the meat and cheese board that had this pesto cheese that is making my mouth water while typing this. The foi Gras was melt in your mouth good, with the candied apples....I would go back just for that appetizer. We then split the venison Swedish meatballs. Such an eclectic group of flavors all married eloquently! I would highly recommend this restaurant as well as those three dishes specifically! -Yelp
Dropped in on Tuesday, got the three for thirty. Oh my Lord the food is amazing. What a deal. -Google
The food was amazing. I was surprised by how quickly we were sat for brunch. Our waitress was phenomenal, I brought a 2 and 4 year old and she engaged with them and really made them feel special. Personally I thought the prices were very reasonable for what you get, I had been a little hesitant as I read someone say it was a little pricey. They even split a plate for my boys and gave them separate plates so they could feel special. -Google
I was visiting Denver for a bachelorette weekend, and Charcoal Bistro was the perfect pick for our group of ten after a wild weekend of partying. Delicious and contemporary food pairings. Tranquil and relaxing interior. Super accommodating waitstaff. Glad we stopped by. -Yelp
My husband and I are in town for just one night. We adore this place. The ambiance is very relaxed and intimate, yet still casual enough where I feel fine wearing my ripped jeans. The food was to die for. The baked brie is out of this world and the octopus and kale salad blew my mind. We also shared some other plates, and they were all just incredible. The chef is so talented and I will definitely come back again when I come back to this city. -Yelp
Amazing! Great food, great drinks and great service. Fun, quiet, intimate. Love happy hour at the bar and dinner at a table is great. One of our favorite spots in our neighborhood. -Google
Love this place. It’s a true gem. -Opentable
The best in Wash Park. Chef driven and always creative. Perfect for friends get together or the family. -Yelp
I had brunch here today with a friend I hadn't seen in a few months. We were greater at the door by a smile. The atmosphere was relaxing. The decor sleek and comfortable at the same time. Our waiter was attentive and gracious. We had the Hash and the Biscuits & Gravy. Both were YUMMY! We had Mimosa's that were a perfect choice for brunch. Put it on your list for your next dinner date. You won't regret it! -Yelp
Great happy hour menu, prices and overall experience! It will not disappoint you. Lively spot for locals to enjoy a drink and an appetizer. -Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here for restaurant week. The atmosphere and service was excellent! The chef delivered our food to the table. We also got to meet the owner. Everything was really good. We will absolutely be back! -Yelp
Every course was simply amazing! The wine, the salmon tots, bacon wrapped dates, mussels, chicken, donuts, chocolate torte- we all loved it! Went with a group of 4 for a girls night and we all had a great time and can't wait to return. -Yelp
Fabulous meal! Had the $30 prix fixe — smoked salmon “tater tots”, grilled rainbow trout, and a chocolate tart for dessert. Delicious, inventive food and artful presentation. And service by Erica was warm and attentive. -Google
New restaurant! Oh my God, this restaurant is so good! All this food is made on-site, which I am a huge snob about. They have bottomless mimosas and bloody Marys that you can switch back and forth on. The staff is very attentive and open to my weird food sensitivities. I will definitely be back to this gem! -Google
